Work

work from anywhere

Do you want to be able to work from anywhere?

Earning a good income without being tied to a specific job location is a way of life for millions today.

Thanks to the internet, companies recognize that they can attract great talent and save on overhead when employees work remotely.

At the same time, starting your own business online has never been more accessible.

To be an Anywhereist, you need a portable career. That means, work that you can do from wherever you are -– you don’t need to be in a specific place at a specific time to do it.

Often it means work you can do with just your computer, an internet connection, and some expertise.

There are many kinds of work that can be made portable. If you have a specialized skill or knowledge, think about some creative ways you can offer it without being tied to an office. Computer programming can be done remotely, for example, although anything in the IT realm that involves hardware or cables probably can’t.

You could enter medical data remotely, but you have to be in the room with someone to draw blood.

You can teach someone a skill like guitar playing remotely, via the internet, but you have to be at a specific place at a specific time to provide live guitar music for a wedding.

You get the idea.

Some types of portable careers are pretty common. Things like:

 • Writing
 • Blogging
 • Photography
 • Life Coaching
 • IT

Then there are the uncommon ones. It’s amazing how creative people can be in developing the portable income they need to live the life they want! For example:

 • Midwifery
 • Belly dancing
 • Coaching entrepreneurs with ADHD

Tools

Once you’ve decided on a direction, you’ll need the tools to put it together.

WordPress is an important tool in your business arsenal. It’s what most bloggers, freelancers, and solopreneurs (big business, too!) use to build websites. Here you’ll find tutorials, tips, and information about using WordPress.

Technology is important, too, especially when you’re traveling.

Or, become a member of Anywhereist and receive my e-book Untether Yourself: 5 Portable Careers to Support You Overseas, absolutely free. (It’s a book I wrote for my Future Expats site, so you’ll see lots of references to that site in it.)
